WELCOMING 2010 - My Beautiful Life (Part 2)

Huhu.. One more day, and we will say GOODBYE to 2009 and HELLO to 2010.. Well, as promised (although most people would totally HATE this blog by now), here is the second part of my beautiful yet hectic life: Secondary School!!

Form 1
My first secondary school was SMK Methodist (ACS), Parit Buntar.. Went there with my friends Ooi Poh Vin, Paminder and Pavinder Kaur along with others.. (This doesn't mean I have forgotten all of my friends!) But, I only went there for a week (the orientation week, that is) and after that, I changed school to SMK Pekan Baru, Parit Buntar. Over there, I met some of my old friends (Nabila Farhana is one of them) and I took the elite Arabic class (1 Kelisa, they called it at the time). A year went by with some hectic memories of being scared away by a bug (thanks to Hadzwan!) and my brunch squished! My poor doughnuts! *sob sob* But, life goes on and I made it!

Form 2
This is where the true life began.. Hahaha.. Started comparing who has armpit hairs! (Disgusting, isn't it?) and also started taking care of Earth deeply (celebrated Earth Day).. But, the turning point of this year was this particular event... During the final year exam, I failed the Arabic test.. Guess what my Ustaz said? "Hafiz, next year, don't take Arabic as your subject for PMR. You won't succeed." Who is he to decide whether I should take a subject or not? And guess what?? Like my primary school Maths teacher, HE WAS SUED AS WELL!! Hahahaha.. Now, he does not teach Arabic anymore, just KKQ classes.. After that, things started to change...

Form 3
I was changed school again. This time, to my mother's school.. SMK Panglima Bukit Gantang.. New school, new friends.. This is where I met some of my greatest friends like Hanisah, Azahani, Taufiq and even my cousin Azmi! Hahaha.. After a few years, we are back at the same school. Haha.. Anyway, this was my PMR year together with the year my father went to Paris.. Huhu.. So, I took my PMR and eventually, I succeeded! 7As, to be exact! Huhu.. Arabic? I got a 'D' but at least I didn't fail! Thanks to Ustaz Tuan Lokman! Hehehe... So, after I took my PMR, my family and I waited for my eldest brother to take his SPM. Then, we all went to our father-Paris! I got my PMR results when we were in Aix En Province, France! Haha.. How cool is that??

Form 4
Still in SMK Panglima.. The saddest year of all.. While we were in Paris, we received news that my grandfather passed away. So, we had to rush back.. Hence, ended my beautiful time in Paris.. But, family comes first, so who give a damn about Paris! Started school 2 weeks late since we stayed in Paris until after Aidil Adha.. Got into 4 Sains 2.. Met some more new friends.. Zulfa, Ayuni, Syahidah, Rosnadiana, Izzah, Mastika among others.. This was also the year that my mom taught me in school! First she taught me Biology.. Then, she took over Maths! Adoi... Life has never been scarier! Haha.. Soon after, we received another news.. My father were to take over Kepten Musa's job at the Malaysian Embassy in Paris as the Defence Advisor! That means another 3 years in Paris!!! Oh, GOD!

Form 5
Since my parents are in Paris, I was to be left alone with my younger brother.. So, my mom told us to stay with my aunt in Kangar, Perlis.. Thus changing my school again.. This time, it is SMK Syed Hassan, Kangar.. This is where I met yet some more great friends! Nadiah, Amira, Asyraf, Atina, Ain, AIsar and Amir among others.. Since this was my SPM year, and it also happened that my dear aunt teaches Chemistry, she actually TORTURED me with Chemistry ONE WHOLE NIGHT! Well, that was only one time.. Hehe.. The rest, she sent me to tuition class.. Along with Physics and Additional Maths.. And guess what? I ALSO SUCCEEDED!! Out of 11 subjects that I took, I got 6As and 5Bs!! My GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR! Weehoo~~~ I was also the only one in the school to get an A1 for Chemistry! I guess my aunt's torture worked after all! Hehehe... After I took my SPM papers, I went to stay with my parents in Paris until a week before the results came out.. Only then, I came back..

Wow, that was a LONG entry.. For tomorrow, NEW YEAR'S DAY, I'll be blogging about my recent life's activities... From the moment I stepped into IPGM Batu Lintang Campus until now.. Sounds boring, I know.. But, hey! I like telling stories!!

With all due respect,
Hafiz Khairuddin

P/S: This post is dedicated to my cousin Azmi, my friends Hanisah, Nadiah, Amira, Azahani, and others... Also to my beloved teachers Puan Sazlyna, Encik Affendi, Encik Syahrul Anuar, Encik Abdul Razak, Puan Norhayati (this has two, my BM teacher in Panglima and my dear aunt), Puan Suzana, Encik Leong Weng Kong and many others who I don't recall the names anymore.. Huhu.. I'M SORRY, TEACHERS!!!

WELCOMING 2010 - My Beautiful Life (Part 1)

To celebrate this coming 2010 (Hooray!), I'll be making a three-day tribute to my life.. Reflecting back is way good to see what have you done so far, and to ensure what we want is achieved or not.. So far, NONE of what I want to do is achieved.. So, BAD HAFIZ! Hehe.. Anyway, today I'm going to relive my school years from kindergarten to Standard 6...

Kindergarten
My kindergarten was called 'Taski Abim Al-Istiqamah' and it was located in Taman Setia Jaya, Parit Buntar. I went there with my cousin Azmi and some of my friends now (an example is Eda Nurul Hanani). Can't really remember well. Only that one day, we had a fire escape rehearsal and we learnt how to run and what to do if you are on fire (I mean LITERALLY on fire). I volunteered to demonstrate after they (the firemen) taught us how and I got a certificate for that! I was so proud of myself that time.. Hehe.. ^_^

Standard 1
SK Methodist, Parit Buntar was my primary school. First day of school has never been scarier than ever. Can't recall whether I cried or not, but I do remember being called 'cute' by my seniors (Standard 6 students at the time).. Hehehe.. Anyway, that year was where I first fell in love with English (which is why I took TESL), thanks to my favourite teacher, Puan Norlela... I still see her sometimes but now it is harder because I have moved to Lumut... :( Kinda cried when she left school because she left us after 1 year she became my teacher.. She was the one who noticed I needed spectacles! I can still remember the day.. Can't recall the date, though.. But, we were having an activity called 'What Number Is This?' and she asked me to identify a number. I was sitting at the back, so it was kinda hard to see..

Puan Norlela: Hafiz, what number is this? (A '3' was shown on the card)
Me: Thirty three, teacher.
Puan Norlela: Hafiz, that's wrong.. It's three..
Me: No, teacher. It's thirty three.
At this point, the whole class was looking at me...
Puan Norlela: What number is this, then? (A '1' was on the card)
Me: Eleven.
Puan Norlela: Hafiz, I think you better ask your mother to go and have your eyes checked. Tell her that after school, okay?
Me: Okay, teacher.

The weirdest thing (I thought it was weird back then) was she's right! I have astigmatism!! Which explains why I said '33' instead of '3'. It's because I have been seeing double images all the time.. Huhu... My first spectacles was the one with BIG lenses, like those old people wore. Most of my friends laughed at me when they first saw me. I was the first one to wear spectacles in my class AND the WHOLE Standard 1 students! Made me the most popular student in school at that time.. Hehehe...

Standard 2
Still the same school, with more and more bullies. Cried a bit here.. Not much happened.. Don't recall, anyway.. ^_^

Standard 3
Also the same school (why am I repeating this? I was here until Standard 6!) and this was the year I took my PTS (which does not exist anymore now). This year during my exam, my uncle was the one who handled us! Huhu.. I can still remember what he said:

2 minutes left!
Pak Su: Just pick one.. No need to calculate!
Me: Pak Su, 2 more questions la.. I still can calculate.
Time's up! Stop writing!
Pak Su: Like I said, JUST PICK ONE!
Me: Okay!

Which is why I FAILED the test! Haha.. Anyway, those who passed may choose to skip a year (from Standard 3 straight to Standard 5) or continue as usual. Since I failed, I have to continue as usual.. Huhu..

Standard 4
FIrst time learning Science! Huhu.. Hard one! Hehe.. This year was also my TORTURE year due to a certain event that was ENTIRELY my fault AND the teacher's:

Maths period (how can this happen during my favourite subject?)
Puan Sharifah: Hafiz, why did you do this wrongly? Look! EVERY ANSWER IS WRONG!
Me: (Stared at my book without a word.. Realized that I had miscalculated EVERYTHING)
Puan Sharifah: I want you to take your book, go out there on the court and DO YOUR CORRECTION! DON'T COME IN UNLESS YOU FINISHED ALL OF THEM!
Me: (Went out, crying while doing the corrections UNDER THE HOT SUN)

Wanna know what happened after? That teacher was sued right after I told my mom what had happened. Haha.. A lesson for me and ALL the teachers out there: NEVER PUT YOUR STUDENTS UNDER THE SUN.. YOU MIGHT GET SUED!

Also, this year (and last year) I was the head cheerleader for the Annual Sports Day! Haha.. Two years in a row! Huhu.. Wee~~~ ^_^

Standard 5
This is getting pretty long, right? No worries.. I'll stop on Standard 6 and continue tomorrow for my Secondary days...
This year, I was the head cheerleader again! Hehe.. How cool is that? Haha.. (Don't be surprised, the cheeeleading team consists of both BOYS and GIRLS...) Not much happened, as usual.. But, I do remember distinctly that my class was moved from the bottom floor to the TOP FLOOR! Fuh, the torture of climbing ALL THOSE STAIRS! Hehe.. Good exercise, though.. :)

Standard 6 (Finally)
Cried A LOT here.. Met Huril Ain (my first love! To bad, no replies..) UPSR year.. The pressure is harder than ever! Haha.. Made a LOT of mistakes this year.. Including NOT DOING ANY OF THE BM HOMEWORK! Was called by the counselor (Puan Hjh. Noriah) and counseled right there and then.. Fuh.. Changed after that.. UPSR came and finally out comes the results.. How much did I get? 5As!! Weehoo~~~ Hugged by mom in public at her school (I went straight to her after I got my result)..

Well, that's about it in my primary school years.. Blog again tomorrow for my secondary years!

With all due respect,
Hafiz Khairuddin

P/S: The names above even though they are true, it was meant to be a lesson to all.. So, don't be offended.. Will always love my teachers.. Especially Puan Fauziah, Ustazah Fauziah, Puan Mardhiah, Puan Norlela, Encik Nazri, Puan Normi, Encik Zainal, Encik Yahya, Puan Azizah, Puan Zaiton, Puan Siti Zaleha, and Puan Zainol Kamariah.

Christmas, Holiday, New Year, New Semester...

It has been a long (and I mean LONG) holiday and things are starting to got NOT the way I had expected... While most people still enjoy their holiday, I am not enjoying it as much as I thought I would be... Why??

1) Christmas
Of course for OBVIOUS reasons I do not celebrate this.. Christmas is just around the corner and the TV is calling me for the Christmas Specials! From Disney Channel to Hallmark and AXN, there's something to watch there... THERE GOES MY CHORES...

2) Holiday
The holidays will be officially over in two weeks time and I for one DID NOT ENJOY IT MUCH... Still wondering though.. Should I just go out there and enjoy myself?? Or should I just stay in??

3) New Year
New Year's approaching (that is if you are counting on the Gregorian calendar) and it is time to open up a new page of our lives... New things to be discovered, hated and loved.. When most people do enjoy New Year, I for one, am not a fan of it.. Don't ask me why.. Sometimes I exaggerate a little by 'showing off' my excitement in celebrating New Year.. But, deep down inside, I know that the new year will bring as much despair as much as it will bring happiness..

4) New Semester
As the holidays come to an end, the new semester draws nearer... Next year, I will be starting my degree year and from what my seniors had said on our TESL Gala Night, "It will be easy at first.. But it will get harder.." The HARDER PART scares me out my own skin! I wonder how hard will it be??

Well, now would be a good time for me to sleep.. New day tomorrow...

With all due respect,
Hafiz Khairuddin

Chain-Mails...

This entry is all about CHAIN-MAILS... Why?? It's a long story for I have LONG HATED this kind of things.. Let me make it short to the part when I actually decided to voice this thing out..

Just now, I logged on to my MySpace account and I saw a new message waiting for me.. So, I opened it.. This what it is telling me, in a short, translated way..

Please read this:
there was a kid.. aged 3.. born with no eyes and mouth..
he died..
if you don't forward this, he will come to you while you sleep..
he'll be lying beside you, staring you with his eye-less face..
he'll be on your ceiling, staring at you with his mouth-less face..
if you don't want to be disturbed, PLEASE forward this to your friends..

If you were to receive such a message, what would you do?? Because seriously, that is the MOST CHEAPEST WAY to scare people.. It is a possible that a baby would be born without eyes and mouth, IT IS FOR GOD TO DECIDE.. But, to actually do this? Only a STUPID person would do this...

A chain-mail is not to be used to scare people. It is NEVER MEANT TO BE USED AT ALL!!! If you really want to use it, why not using by spreading GOOD THINGS like spreading words about religious stuff? PEOPLE WILL DO MORE GOOD THINGS THAT WAY..

If you are among those who spread these things, PLEASE, stop spreading them.. There is one about a person who dreamed of meeting the Prophet Muhammad S.A.W. and it said if you don't spread it to 20 people, you will receive bad luck.. I have received that mail for more than I can actually count.. I didn't spread it, even if I have the time to do it.. I'm still here and nothing bad has happened to me!

So, please.. STOP THESE CHAIN-MAILS FROM SPREADING.. If it spreading about religious things, then DO SPREAD.. It is the least we can do to ask people to do some good in their lives (not that we never do anything good in our lives before)..

With all due respect,
Hafiz Khairuddin

P/S: This is why I feel a little bummed, especially after I was asked to join a cause on Facebook that to me, is utterly USELESS.. Especially about pictures..

Life Is Not How You Think It Is...

Well, this may sound weird but to me, life is not how I think it is.. Why??

1) Holidays
When most people say holidays are the best part of life, it is the WORST part of MY LIFE.. Without friends, one can be as depressed as one can be.. With nothing to do, we start to go back to our old habits of laziness, sleeping late (although some of us DO SLEEP LATE even when the holidays are WAY OVER), and worst, EAT, EAT, EAT, EAT, and EAT... We'll start getting fat because we only eat... We didn't do anything.. So, the ENERGY from the food we eat won't be used, resulting in them changing to FATS and basically, MAKE US FAT..

2) Chores/Work
Some people may like to do work.. Some may not.. Others will have to see if the work's necessary.. To me, it is ALL that I wrote.. Why do I like to do chores? WHAT ELSE IS THERE TO DO??? Why I don't like it? CAN'T I GET SOMEONE ELSE TO DO IT FOR ME?? Why I have to see if it's necessary? BECAUSE THERE ARE A LOT OF DIFFERENT KINDS OF WORK AND SOME OF THEM MAY NOT BE APPROPRIATE TO DO.. Usually, when I come to this doubts about work, I'll simply say "Oh, for God's sake! I can't just do this alone!"

3) Learning
Why do most teenagers rebel about school nowadays? Are they just being stupid? Or is it because they think that they can do better things than STUDYING? Well, if they actually think that, they are going to suffer in the future.. Why? EVERY JOB NOWADAYS REQUIRES AT LEAST A PASS IN SPM! Who's to blame on this problem? Parents? School? Teachers? Themselves? To me, EVERYONE IS TO BLAME, even the PUBLIC... Kinda inappropriate to the title of this post, but this is LIFE.. It's around us and most of us just didn't do anything except look and say "Who's child is that? Don't the parents know how to TEACH their children?" Parents should show how important it is for the children to go to school.. School should provide a really comfortable environment for the students to ACTUALLY COME TO SCHOOL.. Teachers should be kind, but also firm in TEACHING the future generations.. Students should know how BAD life can be WITHOUT KNOWLEDGE.. Public? Don't be scared to actually say something to the children who are doing inappropriate thing in front of you! They are our FUTURE GENERATION who will LEAD this COUNTRY we love.. Not doing anything is THE SAME AS GIVING AWAY THE INDEPENDENCE that we had achieved 52 years ago! So please, for the love of GOD, don't let our future generation rot away.. We need them as much as they need us!

There's more to this than what I just wrote above.. Every day, more and more teenagers fall to the DARK SIDE (you know what I mean). More work needs to be done and HOLIDAYS ARE NOT JUST MEANT FOR US TO SIT BACK AND DO NOTHING... For all I know, LIFE IS SHORT.. So make the best of it while we still ALIVE and BREATHING..

With all due respect,
Hafiz Khairuddin

New Look, New Name

As you guys have noticed when you guys open this blog, I've changed the looks and the name of this blog.. Let me explain why..

1) The Looks
Well, most of you (or all of you) have already know that I'll be an English teacher on 2014.. So, basically I'll be teaching Primary School (students ages between 7 and 12) which makes it significant for me to use this template.. Like it?? Find it and more here.

2) The Name
I've decided to change the name for two reasons:
1) Because the previous name (The Life and Times of A Future English Teacher) is WAY TOO LONG for this template.. Hehehe
2) Because this journey of mine in becoming the BEST English teacher is almost the same as a journey to school. We learn things, make mistakes and learn from them as we go on.. Significant? I think so!

Well, that's it for now.. Will blog later about the UNPACKING situation here in my house..

With all due respect,
Hafiz Khairuddin

When There's Nothing To Do..

Dear readers,

If you are reading this, make sure you are prepared physically and mentally. This is because I am going to babble again.. Not about some particular events (like my previous posts) but about my own pathetic life.. A few events have occurred in the past few weeks and I think now would be the right time to actually say something about them.. Well, here goes..

1) Final Results
As you all have known, I took my final exams last October. I didn't post any of it here (I think I only post about my mock exam..) so, I figured you all might want to know what actually happened during the exam period.. Thanks to my best friend, Zariq Farhan, I was able to answer the papers with great confidence! And, of course, the results didn't come out (as in posted to our houses) so we didn't know. For all we know (and what our lecturers told us) we were to expect a phone call from our lecturers during the first week of holidays if we were to FAIL any of the papers. Well, I didn't get any phone calls so I PASSED! Phew, that was a relief! Now, 4 more years of degree to go through before posting and START BEING A REAL TEACHER...

2) Task for 1st Year Degree
Hard to believe? I think some of us may have experienced this already.. It's just sounds so stupid to me because we were to prepare a series of slideshows for our 1st Year Degree subjects.. And guess what? WE DIDN'T HAVE ANY BOOKS YET! Is it just me or the lecturers are starting to became weirder and weirder every day?? Hmm.. I wonder how should I do it cause we can't find the materials in the Internet..

3) Reading List
Hehehe.. SInce I LOVE READING, I guess it's not weird that I have a reading list for the holidays.. Guess how many books? 97 BOOKS ALTOGETHER!!! So, I guess I won't be able to finish reading them in time.. Hadoi.. What to do?? Huhuhu.. I guess I better continue reading once I finish with this entry..

4) Moving
Well, I already told you guys here and now, I am officially living in the Pangkalan TLDM, Lumut! Huhu.. It's been three days here (the actual moving date was 11th December) and we are still waiting for our stuff from Paris to arrive. It is already in Port Klang and will be brought here tomorrow (14th December).. So, the REAL BIG DAY is TOMORROW. Hee~~

Well, I guess that's pretty much it.. I almost wasted all of my December allowance (my mom will be furious when she reads this.. Did I mention she reads my blog too?) and now I'm pretty sure I can say that I'm broke.. Huhu.. With little money left, it's a good thing that I'm still on holidays here.. Hee~~ So, Mom, Dad, no offense but I NEED MONEY!! Hehehehe.... So, I'll be blogging sometime next week for another update when MY WHOLE FAMILY comes to my new home (grandmother, aunts, uncles and cousins will be filling every inch of this house)... So, till then!

With all due respect,
Hafiz Khairuddin

TESL RETRO NIGHT - A BLAST!!!

Well, the title of the entry today (same as the ones before this) explains everything... The Retro Night went really well! And WHAT A BLAST WE HAD!!!

Our seniors from Cohort 1 enjoyed it as much as we do.. Same goes to the 3 lecturers from University of Otago, Dunedin, NZ that we invited! THEY WERE LAUGHING AND DANCING TO THE BEAT!! I guess it was right for us to dance to the song "Don't Stop the Music" by Rihanna that night. Although it was a modern song, it basically says what all our hearts are saying.. PLEASE DON'T STOP THE MUSIC!!!

Phew! What a night!

I can't really say anything right now.. As always, A PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS. So, be sure to see the photo album in my Facebook account sometime this week!!

With all due respect,
Hafiz Khairuddin

P/S: On behalf of ALL Otago Cohort 2 students, we bid FAREWELL to our beloved seniors who will be leaving for University of Otago on 10th February 2010.. Safe journey, BON VOYAGE and DON'T FORGET US HERE!!!

It Penetrated Me!!! Oh, SHOOT!!!!

Weird title?? I thought so.. Haha.. Still, it's TRUE.. IT DID PENETRATE ME..

WHAT IS IT???

Hehe.. Yes, this is the one.. It penetrated me!!! WHERE???

ON THE THIGH!!!

Luckily it didn't hit me at ......
Hehe..

It hurts so bad!! (wah, exaggerating...)

Sad... Luckily, no blood lost.. haha..

With all due respect,
Hafiz Khairuddin

Newee Lookiee, Same Old Me!!!!

Hehe.. New look.. What do you think?? I might change the template every week.. So, tell me which one do you like best, kay!!!

With all due respect,
Hafiz Khairuddin

What A Day!! TESL Gala Night, Visitors from SMK Padawan...

Fuh, what a day! (emphasizing on the title..) But, I had a blast! Hehe.. Well, as always, I'll go one by one...

1) TESL Gala Night

B. ED. TESL OTAGO JULY 2008 INTAKE
PROUDLY PRESENTS

TESL RETRO NIGHT

Venue: Merdeka Palace, Kuching
Date: 15th November 2009
Time: 7:30 pm - 11:00 pm
Theme: Retro Night (60s, 70s, 80s...)

Basically, that's the thing la.. Hehe.. So far, everything went pretty well.. Including the rehearsals for the performances.. Huhu.. Can't wait! *Night Fever, Night Fever..*

2) Visitors from SMK Padawan
SMK Padawan?? Should be surprised, right?? What would a HIGH SCHOOL be wanting to VISIT a TEACHERS' CAMPUS?? Hehe.. Truth be told, this is what we call "Lawatan Sambil Belajar" because they want to see how can we show their prefects about taking care of their schoolmates.. Of course, WE AT TEACHERS' CAMPUS DOESN'T HAVE ANY PREFECTS... But, they still want to come and visit.. And, YES, THEY ARE ALL PREFECTS!

Heh, even my hands are a bit sore typing this out (yes, I'm getting tired of TYPING. Maybe too much SLEEP..) So, I'll stop here.. Pics?? As usual, go to my FACEBOOK PAGE when I have uploaded them.. Hehe...

With all due respect,
Hafiz Khairuddin

Mr. Khairuddin Babbles Again...

I hate it babbling around.. Especially babbling it here coz my mum and dad will surely KILL me once they read this (which I'm hoping they won't). This babble goes to some of my COHORT members.. What is it about?

RESPECT

I truly don't understand it.. Class is still going on. Without lecturer (she's on a meeting). I was giving the presentation in front. Guess what they do?

a) Sat there, listening to my talk (which was about teenagers' behaviours today)
b) Play games on their lappies
c) Talk/chat with their other PEEPS
d) WALK OUT THE CLASS AS IF NOBODY'S THERE...

I think you can actually guess what's the answer..

So, my next question would be: SHOULD THEY DO THAT??

a) Should because AGAMA CLASS IS SO DAMN BORING
b) Shouldn't because the lecturer wants us to stay in class
c) Should because USTAZAH is NOT AROUND
d) Should because WE DON'T GIVE A DAM ABOUT WHAT HAFIZ IS TALKING ABOUT IN FRONT. WE DON'T WANT ANYMORE DAMN CLASSES, OKAY!
e) Shouldn't because someone is talking in front, giving one of the most important talks about who might be YOUR STUDENTS WHEN YOU TEACH IN SCHOOL...

Pick your answer..

With all due respect,
Hafiz Khairuddin

AS ALWAYS, HISTORY TENDS TO REPEAT ITSELF...

Wondering my post this time's like that? To be honest, the one I said on my last post (refer here) happened again this year. THEY ALWAYS FORGET IT WHEN I'M NOT AROUND... I guess it is true, once I disappear, people will forget me unless I CALL/TEXT THEM FIRST...

That's one reason why my post's title is like that. Another reason is this: ANNUAL DINNER IS BACK! And, it's TONIGHT...

EVENT: IPGM KAMPUS BATU LINTANG'S ANNUAL DINNER 2009
THEME: MASQUERADE BALL
VENUE: RAINFOREST BALLROOM, FOUR POINTS HOTEL, KUCHING
DATE: 30TH OCTOBER 2009
TIME: 7:00 PM - 11:00 PM

Hmm.. This year's gonna be different than last year's. Last year's theme was only WHITE, BLUE & BLACK. This year, it's MASQUERADE BALL! Masks will be worn, people will be in disguises and most people won't be able to recognize each other! Hahaha!!!

TONIGHT'S GONNA BE A NIGHT TO REMEMBER!

With all due respect,
Hafiz Khairuddin

P/S: A very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Hafiz Azly, Suhairie and Nurul Najihah... Korang dah tua hari ni!!! Hehehe... For Hafiz Azly and Suhairie, ENJOY TONIGHT! Anggap macam korang punya birthday party.. Hehehe

Wishing On A Falling Star...

Even though I'm not actually seeing any falling stars in the sky, I still want to wish something...

I HOPE TOMORROW (19th OCTOBER) WON'T BE LIKE LAST YEAR'S...

I mean, I don't actually hate last year's.. I just wish it won't happen like that again...

Still, I can only wish.. Only God can actually decide whether it will come true or not..

With all due respect,
Hafiz Khairuddin

People of Today...

Hmm... A quick survey before you read this entry. Are people in this era good or bad? Just pick one in your head. If you say good, READ THIS ENTRY. If you say bad, you can stop reading, since you agree with me. What I'm about to say here may be offensive to some people but to me, it's just worth saying.

Last weekend, I went out with some friends. India Street was the place. Then, we went to Tun Jugah Plaza for lunch and to Riverside to do some more shopping. We went there to buy some necessities for the juniors' assignment, which was a fairytale play. So, my friend and I agreed to help them. We went to Riverside first before we go to Tun Jugah for lunch. I was about to cross the road. This was what happened.

A black car. Far from me. In the lane near to me (two lanes each way). Far away, I thought why not cross now since the other lane got no cars? I crossed. I was in the second lane. Tires screeched beside me. I looked, shocked. THE CAR JUST NOW CHANGED LANES WHILE I WAS CROSSING. The driver stopped. Opened his car door. Shouted "WOI! NAK MATI KE?!" (HEY, YOU WANNA DIE?!)

Now tell me, is it my fault or his? I totally saw the car and it was FAR AWAY. The driver SHOULD SEE ME TOO! And yet, HE CHANGED LANES AND NEARLY HIT ME.

Now, people who agreed that people of this era are good, tell me. IS THAT GOOD???

With all due respect,
Hafiz Khairuddin

Open Hostel Day In Conjunction with Aidilfitri Celebration 2009

Another entry... This time, quite interesting since this would be the first time (or is it the second?) I am posting this annual event, apart from Annual Dinner...

HARI ASRAMA TERBUKA & RAMAH TAMAH AIDILFITRI 2009

As the title above explain (or for those who don't understand Malay, the main title of this entry is the translation to it), the hostels will be open to public (I wonder if this is correct). This would be the best bit, ESPECIALLY for boys...

BOYS CAN VISIT THE GIRLS' HOSTELS AND VICE VERSA

So, I wonder: would ANYTHING happen this year? So far, no news from LAST YEAR'S CELEBRATION. I wonder if this year's would be the first...

Care to bet who? Or better yet, WOULD YOU WANT TO BE CAUGHT BY THE LECTURERS DOING GOD-KNOWS-WHAT IN YOUR ROOM OR YOUR BOYFRIEND'S/GIRLFRIEND'S ROOM?

With all due respect,
Hafiz Khairuddin

P/S: I am not trying to be GOSSIP GIRL/BOY here... Just wondering... XOXO :p

Aidilfitri 2009... Family, Friends, Final Exam, Computer, FACEBOOK...

It's the 6th day of Aidilfitri... I guess, it's still not TOO LATE for me to wish all my readers here SALAM AIDILFITRI!!! It's been a while (or, better yet a week) since the last time I updated my blog... Hmm... New developments? Gossips? Interesting incidents to tell? Well, let's see...

1) Aidilfitri 2009 - Family
This year, my Aidilfitri's almost complete... My mom came back for Raya!!! Weehoo~~~ I was so happy to see her at the house when I arrived... A short handshake, followed by a very LONG, STRONG HUG!! Huhuhu... I REALLY MISS MY MOM... Too bad my dad didn't come back... He has to work over in Paris. Damn...

2) Aidilfitri 2009 - Friends
Some friends do wish me a very HAPPY AIDILFITRI... I'm really sorry for not being able to reply to those texts on my phone... OUT OF CREDITS... Hehehe... Thanks a lot to those who wish me, whether on Facebook or SMS, I really appreciate it!

3) Aidilfitri 2009 - Final Exam
Out of topic, isn't it? Still, FINAL EXAM's just around the corner... The urge to study is so tempting... THE MERCHANT OF VENICE and TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD to be re-read, short stories to re-study and LITERARY DEVICES to be memorized.. Haihs... Who said life is easy??

4) Aidilfitri 2009 - Computer
Why computer? Heh, since I came back, my brothers have been wanting to use my COMPUTER to FACEBOOK... Hadoi, seems like I'm the only one with the INTERNET CONNECTION... Huhuhu

5) Aidilfitri 2009 - Facebook
And again, as usual, the MOST TEMPTING thing of all, FACEBOOK... Can't say much... Hehehe...

Well, that's about it... Pictures?? I'll try and put them up in my next entry when I'm back in BATU LINTANG...

With all due respect,
Hafiz Khairuddin

New Look???

Yes, after a while using that BORING template (no offence, Blogger!) I've finally decided to change the layout of my blog. I'm still searching for the PERFECT one but, THIS would be the NEAR-TO-PERFECT layout that I'll be using for quite some time...

Also, see my title banner??? Comment on it, okay! Let me know what you guys think... Pirated the Eurovision 2009 logo... Hahahaha... Still, no copyright infringement whatsoever. Credits to the designer of the logo!

Remember, COMMENTS OKAY!

With all due respect,
Hafiz Khairuddin

When You Believe - Leon Jackson

Another lyric. This time, it's from Britain's own Leon Jackson.

Artist: Leon Jackson
Title: When You Believe [UK Bonus Track]
Album: Right Now

Many nights we've prayed
With no proof anyone could hear
In out hearts a hopeful song
We barely understood
Now we are not afraid
Although we know there's much to fear
We were moving mountains
Long before we knew we could

[Chorus]
There can be miracles
When you believe
Though hope is frail
It's hard to kill
Who knows what miracles
You can achieve
When you believe, somehow you will
You will when you believe

Easy to despair
When all you hear is fear and lies
Easy just to run and hide
To frightened to begin
But if we dare to dare
Don't wait for answers from the skies
Each of us can look inside
And hear this song within

[Chorus]
There can be miracles
When you believe
Though hope is frail
It's hard to kill
Who knows what miracles
You can achieve
When you believe, somehow you will
You will when you believe

They don't always happen when you ask
And it's easy to give in to your fears
But when you're blinded by your faith
Can't see your way clear through the rain
A small but still resilient voice
Says hope is very near

Ohh, Ohh

[Chorus]
There can be miracles
When you believe
Though hope is frail
It's hard to kill
Who knows what miracles
You can achieve
When you believe, somehow you will
You will when you believe
You will when you believe

2 weeks to Raya... So Many Things to Buy...

A title suitable for a girl/woman... But this time, it affects me!!!

Since I'm in Kuching, SARAWAK which is famous for a special food called KEK LAPIS, my family had asked me to but some for them... Gues how many???

23 CAKES ALTOGETHER!!!

Just imagine how on earth am I suppose to bring back 23 CAKES for Raya??? Haihs...

Blood Donation - One Pint Can Save A Human Life...

Fuh, a strong entry... For the first time ever (is it?) my post will be a positive one...

BTW, this is a part of the main title of this blog (TLATOAFET) but, eventually EVERYONE must have at least ONCE donated their blood (unlike some people who are afraid when they see BLOOD).

My first time donating... Ngee~~~ Happy... Confused...

Why happy? I JUST SAVE A HUMAN LIFE!!!~~~

Why confused? I NEARLY FAINTED THAT TIME...

The full story:
The blood donation was held at our beloved Dewan Brooke until 1:00 pm... My lecturer, Mr. ******* asked us whether we wanted to donate some. We agreed (since last time on February, NONE OF US DID) and the whole class went to Brooke to join the others there...

THE QUEUE WAS QUITE LONG!!! For a very good deed, yes, most of the people would definitely want to participate. The boys from my class... Hahaha... Some of them are CHICKENS!!! (Yes, I'm referring to a particular twin here, even though they are not twins) The ones who donated (boys, of course) are Me, Fareed, Kenneth... Out of six boys (yes, small class) we are the only ones donated. One of us (I won't mention his name) can't see blood flowing... Seeing blood will make him faint. Bloodphobic? YES... Poor him...

Girls? Felicity, Nadzaty, Ain, and some others... Hehehe... Enjoyed the time so much!

After I have doanted, I went over to the place where they offer drinks and biscuits. What happened? I took my drink, and suddenly, my head started spinning... Then, Felicity said "Hafiz, you look pale! Go and rest there!" I went over to one of the donating chairs, ALMOST FAINTED WHEN I REACHED THERE... Luckily, the nurses there were very quick to catch me before I literally fall on the floor...

Huh, even though it's scary, I DONATED!!!

So, people... DERMALAH DARAH KEPADA MEREKA YANG MEMERLUKAN. IKLAN JABATAN KESIHATAN (quote Nabil Raja Lawak)...

Hafiz Khairuddin

Bzikebi - Bzz... A Song of Made-Up Language Which Won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2008

Weird title, isn't it?

Actually, for all Europeans, this is not weird OR surprising.

JUNIOR EUROVISION SONG CONTEST is a part of the Eurovision Family programmes consisting of EUROVISION SONG CONTEST, JUNIOR EUROVISION SONG CONTEST, and EUROVISION DANCE CONTEST (yes, you think only Americans have "So You Think You Can Dance"?). It is a contest similar to ESC, except that the competition is for children. Before last year's competition, songs must be made by the kids themselves. Voters are all audiences (like Akademi Fantasia, American Idol and others) but unlike ESC, jESC is not held in the winning country. It is selected randomly.

Last year's competition was a bit different. Adults can assist the children in writing the songs, points are calculated by 50% audiences, 50% jury (like Sehati Berdansa in Malaysia). Last year's winner? From Georgia, the trio of Bzikebi with their song "Bzz..."!!!

Heheh... Want to listen to it? Download it here.

With all due respect,
Hafiz Khairuddin

TEENAGERS TODAY - CAN'T THEY FOLLOW THE RULES, OR AT LEAST ATTEND A COMPULSORY MEETING???

Rain, Rain, Rain... Come to Sarawak and END THIS HAZE!!!

Weekly Update:

Hi, guys!!! As some of you may have known through the news (may it be TV or newspaper), Sarawak is facing the haze problem due to the forest burning... Sad, isn't it??

Which actually explains the title of this post... It rained just now... So heavy, that I have to actually stay at the mosque and wait for it to calm down!

Muslims, raise your hands and say "ALHAMDULILLAH" for the rain in Kuching (and maybe some other parts of Sarawak). ALHAMDULILLAH......

Also, Al-Fatihah for Ustaz Asri, main vocalist of the famous NASYID team, RABBANI who passed away yesterday morning at 11... AL-FATIHAH...

Midnight Post - PPSMI/ETeMS

This would be my opinion on PPSMI/ETeMS, the issue currently debated in Malaysia...

WHY MOST OF THE PEOPLE WHO CONDEMN PPSMI @ ETEMS ARE THE ONES WHO ARE ENGLISH EDUCATED AND CAN SPEAK ENGLISH FLUENTLY? DON'T YOU WANT YOUR CHILDREN/FUTURE GENERATIONS TO BE LIKE YOU ALL AS WELL? IT'S NOT THAT WE ARE TRYING TO MAKE THEM FORGET THEIR MOTHER TONGUE. BAHASA MELAYU, CHINESE AND TAMIL ARE STILL BEING TAUGHT IN SCHOOLS. THOSE ARE THE IMPORTANT SUBJECTS. ENGLISH, AS WE ALL KNOW IS THE INTERNATIONAL LANGUAGE WHEREBY THE WHOLE WORLD USE IT TO COMMUNICATE WITH EACH OTHER. SO, PLEASE, DON'T CONDEMN WHAT TUN DR. MAHATHIR HAD DONE. HE'S NOT TRYING TO MAKE THE PEOPLE OF MALAYSIA LESS PATRIOTIC, BUT HE'S PREPARING THEM (INCLUDING ME) TO FACE THE FUTURE WHERE ENGLISH IS THE MAIN LANGUAGE TO COMMUNICATE. BUSINESS, POLITICS WITH OTHER NATIONS AND SO MUCH MORE ARE USING ENGLISH AS THE COMMUNICATIVE LANGUAGE. SO, PLEASE...

ALSO, AS THE ARTICLE IN THE STAR HAD SAID: "WE ARE SPEAKING MANGLISH, NOT ENGLISH." WHY? THE "LA" & "LOR" ARE ALWAYS IN OUR ENGLISH SENTENCES. "BAH" IS ALSO PRESENT IN OUR DAILY CONVERSATION. WHICH IS WHY DR. MAHATHIR WANTS US TO IMPROVE OUR ENGLISH SO THAT WE WON'T USE "MANGLISH" WHEN WE SPEAK OR COMMUNICATE WITH FOREIGNERS AND TOURISTS FROM AROUND THE WORLD. HEY, EVEN THE FRENCH (FROM THOSE WHO I'VE TALKED TO) SPEAKS ENGLISH FLUENTLY, EVEN THOUGH THEIR FRENCH ACCENT IS STILL THERE. SO, WHY CAN'T WE BE LIKE THEM?

SERIOUSLY, IT MAKES ME SAD. I WAS THE "GUINEA PIG" FOR THE PPSMI PROJECT, AND I GOT PERFECT RESULTS. TRUTHFULLY, STUDYING MATHS AND SCIENCE IN ENGLISH IS MUCH EASIER THAN IN MALAY. IN ENGLISH, IT IS MUCH EASIER TO UNDERSTAND SINCE THE TERMS USED ARE IN ENGLISH. SO, WHY CHANGE TO MOTHER TONGUE? MALAY LANGUAGE, CHINESE AND TAMIL FOR MATHS AND SCIENCE? MALAY, I CAN SAY IT'S OKAY BUT CHINESE AND TAMIL? THAT WOULD MAKE IT MUCH WORSE FOR OUR FUTURE GENERATION!

With all due respect,
Hafiz Khairuddin

Bored With Classes...

Daily Update: It seems that towards the end of every year, people are getting busier and busier (ENOUGH WITH THAT WORD!). With the air condition here in Kuching (yes, AIR POLLUTION, causing TERRIBLE HAZE), people seem to get stressed easily.

Wonder why's my entry title's like that? Well, truth be told, I'M SICK OF CLASSES! Not that I hate the lecturers... It's just that lecturers are getting busier and busier (again with that word) that I felt like I'm ignored (or better yet, the WHOLE CLASS is ignored). Huhu...

I know that lecturers are busy preparing for our exam papers, and we need to prepare for our upcoming exams (which for Primary School TESL, is on 26-29 October 2009... But, WE ALSO NEED THE LECTURERS TO ASK QUESTIONS IN CASE WE DIDN'T UNDERSTAND OR CLUELESS ON A PARTICULAR TOPIC IN OUR SYLLABUS.

Haihs, I guess this means replacement classes throughout the semester...

You know you love me/With all due respect/XOXO,

Explaining Things That Are Thought Differently...

Hi again, people!

Surprisingly, no blackouts YET... Huhu... So, enjoying the last moments of online before the REAL BLACKOUT arrives...

Why is the title like that? Hmm... Honestly, there were some talks on FACEBOOK (YES, the social network where people MAKE FRIENDS and COMMUNICATE with each other) about our quarantined period...

Well, fellow friends of IPGM KBL students, THE QUARANTINED PERIOD WAS FROM TUESDAY EVENING (28TH JULY) TO TUESDAY MIDNIGHT (4TH AUGUST) which means that our quarantined period ended on Tuesday...

Hence, that is why WE CAN'T GO OUT YET ON TUESDAY; because of the quarantined period... It was announced on StudentNET@IPGM Kampus Batu Lintang by our beloved Mr. HEP...

For those who are confused, LOG ON TO OUR STUDENTNET OKAY! Don't just blame JPP for not announcing anything... It was THERE ON THE NET, FOR GOD'S SAKE!

With all due respect (and this time, I MEAN IT!),
Hafiz Khairuddin
JPP IPGM KBL 2009/2010

Update: Blackout from 9am to 5 pm...

Huwa!!! To all students of IPGM Batu Lintang Campus, WE WILL EXPERIENCE A TOTAL SHUTDOWN OF ELECTRICITY FROM 9AM TO 5PM TODAY!

So, be prepared and take all of your belongings and flee to the nearest friends' houses (or better yet, Wisma Saberkas is always there for us).

People of the world (or at least, the ones who have added me as their friend in Facebook and those who follow my blog), I won't be ONLINE today from 9am to 5pm (Malaysian time) and will be back tonight... Hehehe...

Till then!
You know you love me/With all due respect/XOXO

Weekly Update: Parents Visit, Grammar Portfolio, Forum, Video Clip and 'Maycomb Tribune'

Hehe... Hi again, people!

First of all, sorry for not updating this blog for quite some time. Seems like I'm busier than ever (is that a word? "BUSIER"?). But, now that I have some time to kill, I might as well tell you guys what actually happened during my absence from my blog...

1) Parents Visit
As I said on my previous post, my parents are coming, AND THEY DID! Hehe... I was touched when my mother called, telling me that she's on her way to my campus...

Mama: Bengah, Mama on the way nak gi kat Bengah ni. Tunggu la kat pagar.
Me: Ye ke? OK, Bengah tunggu...

A few minutes after that, a taxi came over while I was waiting at the gate. Seeing the faces of my parents really make me want cry out loud! Huhu... We hugged and talked for a while. While we were talking, the head warden of the hostels came over. Once he saw me with my parents, he told me to do something; TAKE MY PARENTS AROUND KUCHING.

Head Warden: Apa ni Hafiz? Kenapa cakap kat depan gate je? Bawak la mak ayah kamu ni keluar jalan-jalan...
Me: Betul boleh, cikgu?
Head Warden: Boleh... Kamu nak tido luar pun boleh. Tapi, esok pagi kena balik sini la...

Surprising, isn't it? Hehehe... So, we went out to Pasar Satok and Waterfront that day... I wanted to take them to Kampung Boyan, but my mom was afraid to hop on the tiny boat that will take us across the river to the village. Hehehe...

There's not much to tell because I only met them for a day. The next day, they went to the airport to catch their 8:00 am flight back to Peninsular Malaysia...

2) Grammar Portfolio, Forum, Video Clip and 'Maycomb Tribune'
You must be wondering what the hell are those things, right? Truth be told, those are my assignments! Hehehe... Due date? 24th August!!! Huhu... SO much to do, SO LITTLE TIME!!!

3) Influenza A H1N1
The virus? Because of it, my WHOLE CAMPUS was QUARANTINED for a week and it ends TODAY! Huhu.. 1 whole week without outing (except when I went out with my parents) is really depressing... Short of money, can't go out to take some... Food? Luckily, cafe is here... Otherwise, MAGGI IS OUR ONLY SOLE COMPANION... Hehehehe...

Well, that's about everything that actually happened for the past week... I'll try to update more and more often... Till then,

You know you love me / With all due respect,
Hafiz Khairuddin

Ngee~~~ Oh, Happy Days!!!

Sorry for not updating my blog. So much things to do, soo little time! Also, assignments and final exam are really stressing me out!

Anyway, you must be wondering why is the title of this post is like that, right? Hehe... Truth be told, MY PARENTS ARE BACK! YAAAAAAAAAAAAYY!!!!!!!!!!

Hehe, but just for a few weeks. They wanted to register my two youngest siblings to school back here in Malaysia. Also, my mother have some business to do with the Ministry of Education and my father got some work of his own.

My parents (I don't know will it include the two youngest siblings or not) are coming here to Kuching this Friday... So, basically, YES, I'M HAPPY!

Also, I'm happy to say that ALL works for welcoming the new students are FINALLY OVER, giving me more time to CONCENTRATE MORE on my studies and CATCH UP with everyone in my class...

Anyway, I can't wait to see my parents... Mama, Babah, I MISS YOU GUYS SOO MUCH!!!

With all due respect,
Hafiz Khairuddin

My Guardian Angel

My sweet friend,
You've been there for me,
Day and night,
Rain or shine,
Now and then.

Why do you have to go?
We've been friends since kindergarten.
Through primary school,
You were my protector,
My saviour, my guardian.

Secondary school came,
Still the same;
I'm the prince,
You're the bodyguard.
"Bullies, don't ever come near!
I have a friend who'd die for me."

Still,
God is Almighty, Caring, Forgiving.
He loves you more,
And took you away.
Even though you're gone,
You're still here with me,
In my heart, beside me,
Still protecting me,
Guarding me;
Great friend,
You are my guardian angel.

With all due respect,
Hafiz Khairuddin

Armendora - A Work In Progress by Me...

Skeleton Creek - One Hell of a Scary Story

Another book review... This time, it's Patrick Carman's 'Skeleton Creek' and it is one hell of a scary novel...

A story about two best friends, Ryan and Sarah... Since the accident happened, they were banned to see each other. Living in a town called Skeleton Creek, Ryan and Sarah tried to uncover a mystery surounding the place; especially the dredge where the accident happened. With Ryan trapped inside his house, there was nothing they could do. So, Ryan writes up his stories in his journal while Sarah record footages and send Ryan the links for him to see...

Together, they find out a really, scary truth about the past, the present, and the future...

A really good book, especially for those who like scary stuff and a horror fan...

With all due respect,
Hafiz Khairuddin

There’s nothing i’m afraid of
I’ll show you what i’m made of
Show you all

I’ve made my move
And my faith is strong now
I’ve got the heart

And what you’re doing to me
Feels so fine

Angel, I wake up and live my dreams
Endlessly
Crazy for you!

Can you feel the rhythm in my heart
The beat’s going Düm Tek Tek
Always out it like there’s no limit,
Feels like there’s no way back

Baby, I read all answers
In your exotic movements
You are the greatest dancer
Of all times
You make me feel so special
No one can kiss like you do
As if it’s your profession
Feels so fine…

Beyonce - Halo

Artist: Beyonce
Title: Halo
Album: I Am...Sasha Fierce

Remember those walls I built?
Well, baby they're tumbling down
And they didn't even put up a fight
They didn't even make a sound
I found a way to let you in
But, I never really had a doubt
Standing in the light of your halo
I got my angel now

It's like I've been awakened
Every rule I had you breakin'
It's the risk that I'm taking
I ain't never gonna shut you out!

Everywhere I'm looking now
I'm surrounded by your embrace
Baby, I can see your halo
You know you're my saving grace
You're everything I need and more
It's written all over your face
Baby, I can feel your halo
Pray it won't fade away

I can feel your halo
I can see your halo
I can feel your halo
I can see your halo
Halo, ooh ooh.....

Hit me like a ray of sun
Burning through my darkest night
You're the only one that I want
Think I'm addicted to your light
I swore I'd never fall again
But this don't even feel like falling
Gravity can't forget
To pull me back to the ground again

It's like I've been awakened
Every rule I had you breakin'
It's the risk that I'm taking
I'm never gonna shut you out!

Everywhere I'm looking now
I'm surrounded by your embrace
Baby, I can see your halo
You know you're my saving grace
You're everything I need and more
It's written all over your face
Baby, I can feel your halo
I pray it won't fade away

I can feel your halo
I can see your halo
I can feel your halo
I can see your halo
Halo, ooh ooh.....
I can feel your halo
I can see your halo
I can feel your halo
I can see your halo
Halo, ooh ooh.....
Halo, ooh ooh.....
Halo, ooh ooh, oh........

Everywhere I'm looking now
I'm surrounded by your embrace
Baby, I can see your halo
You know you're my saving grace
You're everything I need and more
It's written all over your face
Baby, I can feel your halo
I pray it won't fade away

I can feel your halo
I can see your halo
I can feel your halo
I can see your halo
Halo, ooh oh.......

Alexander Rybak - Fairytale

This is the winning song from Eurovision Song Contest 2009...

Eurovision Song Contest 2009 Final
Flag of Norway Norway (NRK)

Performer: Alexander Rybak
Song title: Fairytale
Song writer(s): Alexander Rybak
Song composer(s): Alexander Rybak

Years ago when I was younger
I kinda’ liked a girl I knew.
She was mine, and we were sweethearts,
That was then, but then it’s true

I’m in love with a fairytale
Even though it hurts.
‘Cause I don’t care if I lose my mind;
I’m already cursed

Every day we started fighting,
Every night we fell in love.
No one else could make me sadder,
But no one else could lift me high above

I don’t know what I was doing
But suddenly we fell apart.
Nowadays I cannot find her.
But when I do we’ll get a brand new start

I’m in love with a fairytale
Even though it hurts.
Cause I don’t care if I lose my mind;
I’m already cursed

She’s a fairytale
Yeah
Even though it hurts.
Cause I don’t care if I lose my mind;
I’m already cursed

Yohanna - Is It You?

Eurovision Song Contest 2009 Final
Flag of Iceland Iceland (RÚV)

Performer: Yohanna
Song title: Is It True?
Song writer(s): Óskar Páll Sveinsson, Chris Neil, Tinatin Japaridze
Song composer(s): Óskar Páll Sveinsson, Chris Neil, Tinatin Japaridze

You say you really know me,
you’re not afraid to show me
what is in your eyes
So tell me about the rumours
Are they only rumours?
Are they only lies?
Falling out of a perfect dream, coming out of the blue.

Is it true?
Is it over?
Did I throw it away?
Was it you?
Did you tell me you would never leave me this way?

If you really knew me
You couldn’t do this to me
You would be my friend
If one of us is lying
There’s no use in trying
No need to pretend
Falling out of a perfect dream, coming out of the blue

Is it true?
Is it over?
Did I throw it away?
Was it you?
Did you tell me you would never leave me this way?

Is it true?
Is it over?
Did I throw it away?
Was it you?
Did you tell me you would never leave me this way?

Is it real?
Did I dream it?
Will I wake from this pain
Is it true?
Is it over?
Baby did I throw it away?

Eurovision Song Contest - Can It Beat American Idol?

Eurovision Song Contest, a new show to me, not to the Europeans...

This particular reality show calls participants from countries all over Europe to put in their song for a competition to see which song will be the one most favoured by people of Europe. This year's was the 54th edition of the contest, held in Moscow, Russia, following the winning of Dima Bilan in last year's.

This year's winner was Alexander Rybak from Norway, with his song "Fairytale" which he wrote and composed himself. Second place goes to Iceland, third to Azerbaijan, fourth to Turkey and fifth to United Kindgom.

So far, the songs I've heard from the finalists of this year's competition was superb! I can't really tell what's the "X Factor" in their songs, but they are really good! Also, this competition is not like Malaysia's "Akademi Fantasia" and United States' "American Idol" because this competition uses new, never-before-heard songs from countries in Europe. So, we will be in a surprise to actually hearing new songs each year from this competition.

Out of 5 stars, I'll give this show 4.7 and I'm looking forward t actually watch this show next year, which will be held from 25th-29th May, 2010 in Oslo, Norway. I suggest you all to watch this show, ONLINE at www.eurovision.tv

With all due respect,
Hafiz Khairuddin

P/S: Thanks to Mustaqim Bilan Rybak for introducing me to this show.

Long-time favourite - PULUT DURIAN!!!

Haha, you must think I'm crazy putting this entry in... But, it's a part of my mundane, dull life... So, here goes...

Last Thursday, I went to my grandmother's house, as I always do, for my lunch... Once I'm there, there was a certain smell that I haven't sniffed for YEARS... "What was it?" my little heart said. "Oh, not to worry," I replied to myself, "It's just durian." Then, I stopped. DURIAN??? HERE??? RIGHT NOW???

AARRGGHH!!!

Am I dreaming??? I must be dreaming! Pinch me!!!
Fortunately, I wasn't dreaming... It was for real! And, to top that up, my grandmother prepared me some pulut to eat with the durian. Hence, my all-time favourite dish, PULUT DURIAN was heavenly appeared in front of my eyes... Hahaha!!!

Yes, after what seems like a lifetime, I was reunited with my dear baby... Huhu...
Bon Appetite!!!

Hannah Montana - You'll Always Find Your Way Back

Artist: Hannah Montana
Title: You'll Always Find Your Way Back
Album: Hannah Montana: The Movie Soundtrack

You wake up
It's raining and it's Monday
Looks like one of those rough days
Time's up, you're late again so get out the door
Sometimes you feel like running
Find a whole new life and jump in
Let go, get up and hit the dance floor
When the lights go down, it's the ending of the show
And you're feeling like you got no where to go
Don't you know?

You can change your hair
You can change your clothes
You can change your mind
That's just the way it goes
You can say goodbye and you can say hello
But you'll always find your way back home

You can change your style
You can change your jeans
You can learn to fly
And you can chase your dreams
You can laugh and cry but everybody knows
You'll always find your way back home

Your best friends, your little hometown
Are waiting up wherever you go now
You know that you can't always turn around
Cause this world is big and it's crazy
And this girl is thinking a maybe
This life is what some people dream about
Cause when I'm feeling down, and I'm all alone
I always got a place where I can go
Cause I know

You can change your hair
You can change your clothes
You can change your mind
That's just the way it goes
You can say goodbye and you can say hello
But you'll always find your way back home

You can change your style
You can change your jeans
You can learn to fly
And you can chase your dreams
You can laugh and cry but everybody knows
You'll always find your way back home

Yeah, they know exactly who you are
Where the real you is a superstar
You know it's never too far away

You can change your hair
You can change your clothes
You can change your mind
That's just the way it goes
You can say goodbye and you can say hello
But you'll always find your way back

You can change your hair
You can change your clothes
You can change your mind
That's just the way it goes
You can say goodbye and you can say hello
But you'll always find your way back home

You can change your style
You can change your jeans
You can learn to fly
And you can chase your dreams
You can laugh and cry but everybody knows
You'll always find your way back home

Holidays - Things To Do...

The title sounds familiar? For my class in Batu Lintang, you will know the little rhyme Mdm. Portia taught us...

Anyway, this entry focuses on the things I did and the things I'm supposed to do but never get around to them.

THINGS I SHOULD DO:
1) Clean the house (dusty)
2) Wash all the clothes and linens (inclusive of curtains)
3) Fold the laundry
4) Pay bills
5) Finish up Portfolio for next semester
6) Revise Language Description
7) Save money
8) Finish reading 'To Kill A Mockingbird'

THINGS I DID:
1) Wash laundry, excluding the curtains (haven't fold them yet)
2) Cleaned the house
3) Surf the Internet 24/7
4) Wasted money on camera and novel
5) Finished reading 'New Moon' and 'Skeleton Creek'

So, now I'm thinking... Is my life dull, or is it just boring as ever. Am I procrastinating???

With all due respect,
Hafiz Khairuddin

Suggestion for Gossip Girl

Just a short entry stating my suggestion... So far, Gossip Girl has finished season 2 and from what I've heard, it's confirmed to return for a third season sometime this year. Also, a spin-off of Gossip Girl, titled Valley Girls is still in decision whether to show it or not, for a mid-season. Now, here's my suggestion.

Instead of making a spin-off of Gossip Girl in a TV series, why not make it into a movie? Gossip Girl novels have two spawn spin-offs, namely The It Girl (centres Jenny Humphrey) and Gossip Girl: The Carlyles (centres the Carlyle triplets; Owen, Avery and Baby). Why not make those into a Gossip Girl movie? Hey, Sex and the City is already out there as a movie and so does The X Files. So, why not Gossip Girl be made into a movie as well?

You know you love me,
XOXO
Gossip Girl
